From the recording Bad Song
Greg Klyma played the instruments and sang the lyrics. Dave Westner did the mixdown.
Lyrics
I wrote a bad song today, just to get it out of the way. My notebook page as blank as my mind. I wasn't trying to be thoughtful. Had my sights on something awful 'cause it's hard to write a good one every time.
There's a choice you've have to make
Do you have what it takes?
Are your reasons understood?
Some are doing it just to get paid
Some are trying to get laid
I wrote a bad song today and it was good
I've got a friend who understands me. Never tries to hand me any lines – so I asked him. He said "write a song today! put your true self on display. Let those chips fall where they may and cash 'em in."
'Cause there's a choice you've gotta make
Do you got what it takes?
Are your reasons understood?
Some are doing it just to get paid
Some are trying to get laid
I wrote a bad song today and it was good
I wrote a bad song today. What else can I say? The whole did not outweigh the sum of its parts. It may be bad but I believe it brought me some relief. Ya see, I've got these two sleeves, but just one heart.
There's a choice you've have to make
Do you have what it takes?
Are your reasons understood?
Some are doing it just to get paid
Some are trying to get laid
I wrote a bad song today and it was good
Some are doing it just to get laid
Some are trying to get paid
I wrote a bad song today and it was good
